We are grateful to Brian Raincock of 4 Mount Lane for doing this survey of the state of our planters and public spaces along Westgate. The Committee is in negotiation with the City Council to take over the management of these spaces and Penny Tomlinson of 11 Westgate has agreed to take on the coordination of a gardening group of Westgate resident volunteers that will do the work in collaboration with the City’s casual gardener. We hope that everything will be looking a lot more cared for by the Summer.

Your own personal copy of this document may be downloaded using the link at the bottom of the page. If you would like to help with this group please contact Penny Tomlinson, our coordinator.

I don’t think that the planter on the corner of St. Bartholomews Close is included in the survey. It does grow up so that visibility to the left is restricted when one is driving out of the Close and is potentially dangerous. Has any thought been given to this?

The planter is there, no. 5 on our list. We are already aware of the difficulties you have with visibility and have put them in the work schedule. We are waiting for WSCC approval to go ahead at the moment, and there is a meeting with the City 11th April to discuss details in the meantime.
