Whitehouse Farm – A meeting will be held between the Chairs of the local Resident’s Associations and Dominic Smith of WSCC Highways Department at County Hall, chaired by Louise Goldsmith on Friday 3rd February. Section 106 (developer’s financial contribution to infrastructure) are currently underway between Linden Homes and WSCC. We do not get any say in these. The detailed planning for the road layout will start as soon as these contributions are agreed, probably in about 2 months. This is where we need to be sure our voice is heard.
Traffic Advisory Group – The next meeting of the group has been arranged for Wednesday 15th February.
Would you like to pay your subscription? – At the AGM it was agreed that residents would be invited every January to contribute £10 per household to the running costs of the Association. The Association has a very small surplus at present and is lucky to have some support currently from a local firm with costs for the newsletter etc, but without some means of subscription, there are no funds to run the AGM and cover other ancillary expenses. Most importantly, it also means that if the need arises (as it did last year) to take legal advice with the other residents’ associations eg on Whitehouse Farm plans, that there are funds that can be drawn upon. This legal advice and the coordinated presence at the Council Planning Meetings undoubtedly helped protect our position. These funds will not go on WGRA social events, which must be self-funding, but are to create a reserve in place to make running the Association possible. Paying your sub entitles your household to vote at all General Meetings of the Association and this is not a compulsory scheme: please be assured that all residents will continue to enjoy full access to all of the activities of the Association, but we hope that most households will be able to support the WGRA in this way. You may hand in your sub to a Member of the Committee at the next Coffee Morning or deliver to the Treasurer, Vince Waldron, at no 72 Westgate.
WGRA Newsletter copy deadline – The WGRA Newsletter is published twice a year, in May and October. Why not write a small article for the next one that would be of interest to your neighbours? Or submit one or many photos for our “Westgate Life” photographic competition? All contributions for the May edition should be delivered to the Editor please, Brian Bird at no 54 Westgate, by 10th April please.
Locals’ Nights Suppers have started – These suppers with their special menu are on offer for £12 every Wednesday. Food is served between 5pm and 8pm but of course diners can stay all evening. Why not bring the family or a friend for a quiet chat, or join a larger table of neighbours if you prefer?
NOTE: The next WGRA Coffee Morning is on Saturday 4th February, 10am at The Crate & Apple
